I'm not a genius. I'm far from being a smart girl.


Therefore, I need a lot of efforts to get me to where I want to be which is, to be a smart girl.

Genius? I know I can't be one because genius is a gift from Allah swt. Only some people have that special trait. That's what my father used to tell me. When I was young, I asked my father how come I can't be a genius? And he gave me that piece of advice. He also advised me that it doesn't mean that if one is not genius, then one is not smart and clever. A person can be both smart and clever if he or she works hard to achieve it. People like us need to put a lot of effort and then, we will get what we want.


And I still hold on to his words until now. I believe it because it really works for me in a lot of ways.


A person like me only need to have consistent effort to get me through everything in life. It's easy to talk, but it's hard to do it right? But the good thing is, it pays off well.


Efforts don't come alone. They come with dua (supplication) and hope from Allah swt.


I learned that when we put a lot of efforts into something, at the of the day, we will gain something. Sometimes a lesson. Sometimes gratitude. Maybe a gift. Maybe a lot of things, but not failure.


As quoted by Les Brown, 'Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars'. So for me, when you put 100% effort into something, you will not get nothing. You will definitely get something even if you do not get what you aimed for and the best thing is, you will gain something among the best.

That is why hard work never betrays you.
